What you will learn in this section

  • The Client Profile Page
  • Verify Personal Info
  • Add Other Scenario Participants
  • Add Location and Future Moves

Creating a personal financial scenario is the first step in taking control of your financial future. In this section, we will guide you through the process of building your own personal financial scenario using our innovative software. By inputting your personal information, goals, and expectations, you'll gain a clearer understanding of your financial situation and the steps you need to take to achieve your dreams. You will also see how easy it is to create scenarios in StartingOutPlan, allowing you to model other complex scenarios on the fly in the future. This particular lesson will focus on the very basics: logging in and making sure your scenario is set up accurately.

1. The Client Profile Page

After your initial account setup, you should be logged into StartingOutPlan and looking at your Client Profile Page. If you are not able to complete the two steps that get us  to this point, you should STOP and email the help desk. Explain, what you are seeing and any details that may help us get you set up faster.

This is the Client Profile Page, your home base. You can access all aspects of your personal financial scenario from this page. Whether you have entered it in Onboarding or not, you can always go to your Client Profile page and edit or add information. In this lesson, we are focusing on the basics, so we will be working with the Household module, located in the center of the page.

2. Verify Personal Information

The module we will be working in for this lesson will be  "Household." Here, you will verify the settings we have set up in your personal financial scenario. If you click on the "Household" as pictured below, you will see names, birthdays, and locations. We need to verify that the primaries and children/beneficiaries are all entered correctly.

Click on any fields that are incorrect or set up as defaults. We want your time with StartingOutPlan to be as seamless as possible, so we customize your experience with the information we have. If you see a 12/12/99 birthday, click on the dates and enter the birthdays of any household member.

Change marital status, if necessary, by clicking on "Marital Status" and using the Dropdown menu. Likewise, you can change gender and name by clicking on them, and you can adjust Life Expectancy by dragging the blue dot across the timeline.

3. Add Other Scenario Participants

Next, click on the "Kids" circle sat the top of the page to verify the children and beneficiary section of Household.

Start by verifying the names, birthdays, and relationship status that we have preloaded for you. If you need to make changes, click on the area that is incorrect and change it. If you need to add a child or beneficiary, click on the "Add Child" button and enter the name, birthdate, and relationship to the plan primaries.

4. Add Location and Future Moves

StartingOutPlan allows you to plan for future moves in different states. All you have to do is click "Add Future Location" and you can add multiple future moves at different times in your life. This allows detailed planning that will make the scenario a real reflection of the actual details of the people represented in the plan.

Add Income

You will be asked to enter income, as shown in the image below. You may enter your income here or you can skip it and come back to it later. You will  always be able to add or edit information from the client portal.

Now that you have logged in and verified all of your basic household information, you can begin adding detail to your personal financial scenario. In the next lesson, you will enter some goals and truly start to see your scenario take shape.
